Wendt Partners founder and president Douglas Wendt delivered two groundbreaking workshops for chamber leaders from across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce Executives (PCCE) annual conference, held in Erie, Pennsylvania on October 14-16, 2009. Wendt delivered the workshops on "Tough Times, New Directions for Chamber Executives" and "Chambers and Change: Strategies for Leaders" in a back-to-back series designed to help chamber executives aggressively rethink community challenges and opportunities in light of the current economic restructuring.
The first workshop focused on re-engineering the revenue vision and strategy for chamber growth and development by focusing on four layered priorities: Retain, Regain, Redefine and Remain. The first layer centers on retaining member relationships. The second focuses on regaining lost opportunities for partnership. The third zeroes in on brand and program strategies from the perspective of redefining roles. And the fourth looks at core fundamentals under the theme of remaining strong.
The second workshop took the model outward from the chamber itself into the community, and set forth an exciting and in-depth new model that chamber executives can use to assess, define and lead their communities through change in a wide range of interrelated areas, from business climate to education, and from workforce development to tourism.
Downloadable copies of both presentations, along with narrated WebEx recordings, are available on the Wendt Partners website within the resources section, which is available at www.wendtpartners.com/resources.
"It was an honor to present to the PCCE community this year and work with so many chamber executives on the goals and priorities that are important to their stakeholders," says Douglas Wendt. "We have had the pleasure of serving the PCCE as strategic council, and now we were able to dialogue with many of their members on issues of value to their communities." Wendt Partners profiled a case story on the firm's work with the PCCE, which is available here.
Wendt added that in follow-up to the conference, notes gathered from guided group discussions will be tabulated and shared in support of focused peer-to-peer sharing within the PCCE community, both through face-to-face and online discussions. "The PCCE brings together the leaders who link communities and their businesses across Pennsylvania, and we're excited to help them enhance their ability to work collaboratively and continue building for the future," he added.
